Alice Faulkner Burch was born in Oxnard, California, to Cleo and Elwanda Faulkner. She received an associate’s degree from Oxnard College.

She served a full-time mission in the Chile Santiago South Mission and was called as an ordinance worker to the Salt Lake Temple immediately upon returning. She has enjoyed serving in various callings in the Church, including the last Relief Society president of the Genesis Group.

Alice serves on the Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board, is on the Signature Books Editorial Advisory Board, and is the Director of Special Events on the Executive Committee of Sema Hadithi African American Heritage & Culture Foundation.

Robert Burch was born in Decatur, Georgia, to Bobby and Lillian Burch. He attended Talladega College in Talladega, Alabama, where he pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., a member organization of the Divine 9. He has served in numerous callings in the Church, including Director of the Genesis Group.

Robert currently serves the state as the Executive Director of Sema Hadithi African American Heritage & Culture Foundation, a 501(c )(3) organization that he founded in 2020 that focuses on the researching, teaching, and preserving of Utah’s Black history—and is the only organization in Utah of its kind. He is also National Vice President of the Sons and Daughters of the U.S. Middle Passage (a Black American lineage society) and sits on the Utah State Historical Society Board, Brigham Young Reconciliation Ministry board, and Black Lives Bless board.
