In 2019, Sissel will return to Salt Lake City to perform with the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square for the annual summer concerts held in conjunction with Pioneer Day celebrations. Audiences still have not forgotten Sissel’s stunning previous performances with the Choir and Orchestra.

“We are honored to have Sissel perform with us again,” said Mack Wilberg, music director of the Choir. “The sincerity and purity of her voice captivates everyone who hears it. . . . We count her as a great friend of the Choir organization.”

Sissel’s rich and varied career has spanned over 30 years. The Norwegian-born singing sensation joined The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square for their annual Christmas concerts in 2006 in a performance described as “a match made in heaven.” In her first-ever Christmas album released in the U.S., Spirit of the Season, Sissel collaborated with the world-famous Choir to offer a dazzling program including “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “In the Bleak Midwinter,” “In dulci jubilo,” and “Like an Angel Passing through My Room.” The album earned two Grammy nominations in the categories of Best Classical Crossover Album of the Year and Best Engineered Classical Album.

Sissel is also known as “the voice of Titanic” as her arias are heard throughout the film, including the famous “I’m flying!” scene. The film’s soundtrack was the highest-selling orchestral film score in history.

In 2005, she also performed with the Choir for a broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word to commemorate the centennial of Norwegian independence from Sweden. When she returned for the Christmas concerts the following year, she said, “I was welcomed with open arms saying, ‘Welcome home, Sissel,’ and that’s actually how I felt. I felt like I was coming home; it was wonderful.”
