5 Ways to Transition your Home for Fall

Jennifer Stagg is the interior designer and business owner behind Stagg Design. Her work has been featured in Utah Style and Design, HGTV Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, Domino, Today and many more publications. Stagg, in partnership with Deseret Book, gives us 5 tips on transitioning your home from summer to fall.

  1. Start with your front porch

“When decorating your porch for fall,” Stagg says, “There are three main ingredients you need. You need some great fall pumpkins. Look for a variety of shapes and sizes and textures. Also you need some fall blooms. Some beautiful flowers and greenery. Or in this case, different types of colors. Also look for a variety of sizes from large plants to very small. And you need a really great mat to go right in front of your front door.”

2. Add greenery inside and outside

“Greenery and foliage is great outdoors and indoors as well,” Stagg continues. “Deseret Book has a great variety of farmhouse pitchers and different vases and also these beautiful wood trays that look great piled full of pumpkins or even fresh flowers.”

3. Switch out pillows and blankets

“Switching out pillows and blankets is another great way to warm up your space,” Mentions Stagg. “You can put them on a fireplace mantel, in an entryway, even on a bench. And also in a basket, piled full.”

4. Set up a scenic mantel

“Speaking of your fireplace mantel it’s the perfect place to set up a fall vignette,” Stagg continues. “Use some fall flowers also some inspirational art that comes in fall colors and you’ll have the perfect scene for guests.”

5. Use your coffee table

“And finally you can use your coffee table for a beautiful fall display. Get a large tray. Think in terms of a pyramid with three different items at three different heights.”
